Edúcate Uruguay is a non-profit organization that strengthens the public school system, specifically in rural areas, through a model that generates an affective and effective bond of children to learning.

Founded in 2009, it has demonstrated to be a proven solution to reduce the gap in the access to educational opportunities between rural and urban children.

With ANII´s and Fundación Ceibal support, we continue research focused on educational innovations

AT EDÚCATE URUGUAY WE FOCUS ON THE INNOVATION, IMPLEMENTATION AND RESEARCH OF EDUCATIONAL SOLUTIONS IN RURAL ENVIRONMENTS SINCE 2009.

The purpose of this research is to address the high school dropout rates through the use of technology and the integration of new themes and learning dynamics, taking advantage of the new curricular framework of the current Educational Transformation (2020) and the network of national and international contacts. of the organization.

According to INEED (2020), 33% of students fail to complete Basic Secondary Education in a timely manner, while 57% do not complete Higher Secondary Education under the same conditions. A study by the ECH (2019) revealed that 52% of students who drop out of secondary education do so due to lack of interest or because they want to learn something different.

The objective of this work is to protect the educational trajectories of students by linking the themes of the new curricular framework with learning experiences relevant to their environment, integrating them to the current modalities in the rural area (Basic Cycle and Rural High Schools), through the design of a hybrid learning ecosystem in connection with the rural productive reality.

In addition, it seeks to use technology and Artificial Intelligence to improve blended learning effectively, overcoming geographical barriers with meaningful connections and intellectual closeness.
The dissemination of the research results aims not only to inform, but also to mobilize the educational community to reflect on the conclusions obtained. The aim is to contribute to the debate on secondary education, going beyond the rural context, focusing on the creation of relevant and formative learning environments with an intergenerational perspective, from the present to the future.

To disseminate these results, a series of talks will be held that will involve the Uruguayan educational community and foreign partners working in the same area. These in-person talks will share successful experiences and explore evidence-based improvement opportunities for the local reality. Likewise, articles will be published in specialized magazines and will be communicated on social networks and national and international media. The objective is to continue advancing learning models that promote equity in access to development opportunities for adolescents in vulnerable situations in rural areas.

We appreciate the support of the ANII and Fundación Ceibal.
